Water cascading down a red rock face isn't a view you're likely to find in most areas of the southwest unless a rainstorm has recently hit. Reece Stein showed us a location where in fact that is exactly what you find year round. Calf Creek Falls, a famous hike through an oasis in the desert, is a waterfall set against a chasm of red rock that descends into a clear pool and stream. Perfect for hikers, fishermen, and nature-lovers, this area demands quiet reflection and a bit of awe as well.
Calf Creek isn't the only place for some fun exploration in this area though. Devil's Garden, a natural rock setting not unlike Goblin Valley to the north, forms the perfect playground for climbers and those who want to lose themselves in a maze of stone.
This entire area is worthy of exploration. Take State Byway 12 to the Calf Creek trailhead and you can discover far more than you expected here in the deserts of Utah.
